Admission Requirements

Admission is competitive and will be based on a number of factors including (but not limited to) GPA, grade in the required prerequisite, and Letters of Recommendation. Students who are economically and/or educationally disadvantaged should indicate this on their application.


Career Changer Program requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a non-science based discipline from an accredited institution. Exceptions are considered for science majors if it has been at least 5 years since your graduation.
  • Minimum grade point average of at least 3.0 in the last 60 semester units attempted.
  • Applicants must be in good standing at the last college attended.
  • Completion of an Introductory Chemistry course (equivalent to CSUF’s CHEM 115) with a minimum grade of a “B” or higher and must be completed by June 12th, 2017. Students can complete this requirement in one of three ways:
    1. Take an Introductory Chemistry course – Course does not have to have a lab component and can be taken at a University or Community College. Students can verify the equivalency of a course by visiting www.assist.org. If an institution does not appear, please contact our office for assistance.
    2. Chemistry Placement Exam (CPE) – Students who do not wish to take a course can register to take the CPE. A passing score will exempt you from the pre-requisite. To register for the exam please contact the Testing Center at 657-278-3838.
    3. AP Credit: Students who earned a “4” or “5” on the AP Chemistry exam can receive credit towards the pre-requisite. Please forward an official copy of your test score to the Post Baccalaureate office to verify.
  • Completion of a Pre-Calculus or Calculus course (equivalent to CSUF's MATH 125 or MATH 130) with a minimum grade of "B" or higher and must be completed by June 12th, 2017.
  • Clinical, volunteer and/or shadowing in a healthcare setting is highly recommended.

Academic Finisher Program requirements

  • Completion of two semesters of General Chemistry with a grade of B or higher.
  • Completion of two semesters of General Biology with a grade of B or higher.
  • Completion of a Pre-Calculus or Calculus course (equivalent to CSUF's MATH 125 or MATH 130) with a minimum grade of "B" or higher.
  • All prerequisites must be completed by June 12th, 2017.
  • Clinical, volunteer and/or shadowing in a healthcare setting is highly recommended.
