Python Programming

Python is a widely used, open, general purpose programming language that can be used on any modern operating system. It has been ranked as the most popular coding language for the past four years due to its flexibility and readability for newcomers and novices. Also, Python performs well with other programs and languages, making it extremely versatile and necessary for system and web development.

Our Python certificate program provides comprehensive instruction and the tools to demonstrate proficiency in this popular language. Students will build a portfolio showcasing their skills in web development, systems development, data analysis and application development using Python.

Even for those experienced in other programming languages, the certificate program will prepare them to interface with Python-based products and create more opportunity for integration with multithreaded systems.

Upon completion of the certificate program, graduates will be able to:

  • Gain an understanding of the principles and functions of Python Programming language.
  • Perform coding using the syntax and scripting available in Python.
  • Run successful testing on a set of codes to discover, document and fix errors.
  • Use built-in functions and create user-defined functions.
  • Create applications for the web and systems development.
  • Identify and build object-oriented coding theories.

Program Features

  • Highly qualified instructors with extensive experience with Python and in the field
  • A certificate from California State University, Fullerton identifying continuing education units (CEUs) earned for completion of the program
  • Program can be completed in one academic term

The Certificate in Python Programming consists of three required courses totaling 72 hours of lecture and discussion. 7.2 Continuing Education Units will be awarded to the certificate graduate.


Non-California Residents

Due to state and federal regulations, non-California residents may only enroll in CSUF online courses when their state has authorized CSUF as a provider. Click here for more information.

It is recommended that participants who reside outside of United States and whose first language is not English must possess English language proficiency equivalent to a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper), 80 (iBT) or IELTS score of 6.5.

It is the participant’s responsibility to demonstrate English language proficiency necessary to fully participate in the class lectures and discussions.

There are no prerequisites to register for the first course in this program. In order to ensure that students in a course possess the required knowledge and skills and in order to maintain high-quality courses/programs, University Extended Education reserves the right to drop students from a course if they do not meet the minimum prerequisite requirements as indicated in the course description and the certificate program eligibility requirements.
