Course Information

Sight translation is a complex and unique technique requiring an interpreter to give an oral rendition of written text quickly and accurately. This class provides an overview of the concepts and techniques of sight translation. Analysis of legal texts focusing on the similarities and differences in Spanish and English grammar will be examined. Exercises in speed reading, vocabulary building and oral summaries of written texts from Spanish to English and English to Spanish will be used to further develop sight translation skills.

Note: Students must have met the language requirements to enroll in this course.
