Proprietary information loss can occur through various channels and it is the corporate security managers' responsibility to assess the risk, identify safeguarding measures and implement security breach procedures. The course will discuss the historical, philosophical, and legal basis of government and proprietary security programs. In addition, the participants will understand the proprietary information and intellectual property developed by private industry, as well as government requirements for the protection of information affecting national security. The class discussion will explore safeguarding measures to include information identification, threat/vulnerability analysis, and protective countermeasures. Security personnel, policies/procedures, systems, and equipment will also be reviewed as they relate to the physical measures designed to safeguard proprietary information, intellectual property and material.
