Masters Degree Program

Designed for working professionals, the MSW Flex Program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), and offers conveniently scheduled evening classes.

The MSW Flex program prepares social workers to take leadership roles in public social service organizations charged with responding to societal problems such as poverty, family instability, mental illness, and child abuse. Fieldwork in child welfare or community mental health is included in the program

The MSW Flex program prepares social workers to take leadership roles in public social service organizations charged with responding to societal problems such as poverty, family instability, mental illness, and child abuse.

The program is 60-units in length and will take 3 years to complete; classes are scheduled during fall, spring, and summer terms. Classes take place during weekday evenings, three classes per week.

New students are admitted in the fall term only. Students take courses in the order they are offered, and registration is guaranteed.

All classes will be held at the CSUF Irvine Campus.

Eligibility

Students are admitted each Fall – the application period opens October 1st and continues through February 1, 2016. New students are required to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 for the last 60 semester or 90 quarter units
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Paid, volunteer, or internship experience relevant to social welfare
  • Personal statement
  • Interview with admissions committee

Applications for Fall 2016 will be accepted October 1, 2015 through January 30, 2016.

Tuition is currently $425 per unit. Textbooks, parking and other instructional materials must be purchased separately. The MSW Flex program is exclusively self-supported by student fees. Since the program does not receive state funding, fees are slightly higher than the MSW program on the Fullerton campus. *Costs/Fees are subject to change.


Financial Aid

Federal financial aid is available Click here for details. Since the MSW Flex program is not supported by state funds, students admitted to this program are not eligible for State University Grants, Cal Grants or graduate Equity Fellowship Grants.
