Program Information

The Clear Credential Program is designed to serve teachers who need to clear their multiple or single subject credential, but for whom induction is unavailable.

The program features include:

  • Three required ONLINE courses, 9 units of graduate credit
  • Opportunity to interact with an online community of learners
  • Individualized learning experiences based on the participants' particular teaching/learning context
  • Up to 9 units may apply to CSUF's Masters degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Secondary Education. Contact the Graduate Program Advisor for your program to assess the number of units that may be transferable.

Non-California Residents
Due to state and federal regulations, non-California residents may only enroll in CSUF online courses when their state has authorized CSUF as a provider. Click here for more information.

It is recommended that participants complete the program in one year (2 semesters). Those pursuing a multiple subject credential enroll in EDEL 502E and EDEL 537 in the fall semester, and EDEL 502F in the spring semester. Those pursuing a single subject credential, please enroll in EDSC 502E and EDSC 537 in the fall, and EDSC 502F in the spring.

Pedagogy, Assessment and Support for New Teachers Semester 1

EDEL 502E / EDSC 502E (3 UNITS)

Prerequisite: Preliminary Teaching Credential.

Formative assessment and professional development for new teachers via utilization of state approved formative assessment system. Focus on inquiry into teaching effectiveness including analysis of context and assessment of teaching and learning. To be offered in Fall 2014.

Graduate Studies: Curriculum Issues and Problems

EDEL 537 / EDSC 537 (3 UNITS)

Prerequisite: Preliminary Teaching Credential.

Problems and issues in elementary and secondary education, their causes and possible solutions. This course begins in Fall 2014 and ends in Spring 2015.

Pedagogy, Assessment and Support for New Teachers, Semester 2

EDEL 502F / EDSC 502F (3 UNITS)

Prerequisite: Preliminary Teaching Credential.

Formative assessment and professional development for new teachers via utilization of state approved formative assessment system. Focus on inquiry into teaching effectiveness, including action research, review and reflection on teaching and learning. To be offered in Spring 2015.

To be eligible for CSUF's Clear Credential Program, a teacher must:

  • Have been trained in California and hold a valid California SB2042 single and/or multiple subject preliminary credential.
  • Be employed by a California school district, charter school, private or independent school, and teach to the California Common Core State Standards.
  • Have no access to an induction program through their employing school or district.
  • Be employed as the teacher of record that plans, delivers and assesses standard based instruction. Applicants must also be responsible for the issuing of grades and have direct contact with parents.
  • Be the instructor of record for no less than 10 students in assigned classroom.
  • Have access to a diverse population of students including GATE, Special Needs, and English Language Learners.
  • Be able to complete the FACT (Formative Assessment for California Teachers) requirements.
  • Have access to a face-to-face support provider assigned by school site.

PLEASE NOTE: Part-time teachers working 20-25 hours per week may apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please provide a complete description of your part-time employment on district letterhead and signed by the appropriate administrator (e.g., assistant superintendent in a public school district, site administrator at a private school).

A Verification of Unavailability of a Commission-Approved Induction Program (CL 855) signed by the employing agency and documentation that the teacher is employed is required for consideration for admission to the CSUF CCP. Further, an agreement of collaboration with the employing agency will be required and will be established with the agency after the submission of the CSUF CCP application by the teacher.
