How to Graduate College Sooner
Earning your degree ahead of schedule is achievable. CSUF University Extension recommends five ways to graduate college early or on time.
1. Start with a Clear Academic Plan
Meet early with your academic advisor to review your program requirements and identify which general education and major courses can be completed in tandem with your Titan Degree Audit and Planner.
2. Maximize Transfer and Credit Opportunities
Use any Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or dual enrollment credits that can count toward degree requirements.
3. Take Advantage of Summer and Winter Sessions
Summer Session and Winter Session, offered through CSUF University Extension, allow you to stay on track or even get more ahead. These courses are flexible, operate through online and hybrid formats, and have smaller student to instructor ratios.
4. Enroll in Accelerated or Online Courses
Accelerated and online course offerings can maintain momentum towards completing your degree. University Extension has online bachelor’s degree-completion programs, which may be accelerated with prior approval. There are also many flexible master's programs for working professionals, including Accelerated M.S. in Applied Computer Science and Accelerated M.S. in Software Engineering.
5. Stay Focused, But Flexible
Check in regularly with your advisor to make sure your plan stays realistic and sustainable. If you need to adjust your pace or explore alternative learning options, our advising team is here to provide solutions that keep you moving forward.
Graduating early isn’t about rushing through your education, it’s about making the most of your time and opportunities.
