Private Student Loan Guidelines
Arrangements for any private educational loan must be made prior to enrollment. It usually takes 3-5 business days for University Extension, Budget & Finance to complete loan certification after the student has submitted the request. Loan certification is not guaranteed, and all terms and conditions must be accepted by University Extension.
Steps:

Apply for a private educational loan with a lender of your choice. A commercial bank and/or credit union may offer these types of loans.
Loan Eligibility: Students should verify with the lender that University Extension course(s) are eligible for private educational loan funding, as University Extension cannot guarantee approval.

Students must notify CSUF University Extension of their approved private educational loan. Please contact CSUF University Extension Finance at (657) 278-2232 or email extensionfinance@fullerton.edu.

University Extension will certify the student’s loan with the lender. Please note that University Extension is only able to certify loans up to the total estimated cost of the course(s) and applicable student fees.

Funds are disbursed after the course(s) start during the term of enrollment. Funds are sent to CSUF on the lender’s scheduled disbursement dates. Loan funds will first be applied to all institutional charges, and any remaining balance will be refunded to the student. Please allow 7–10 business days after the disbursement date for funds to be applied to the student account.

Any unpaid balance remaining after loan funds are disbursed will be due immediately and must be paid directly by the student.
