Have a Preliminary Education Specialist Credential or a Level I Education Specialist Credential?

The Clear Education Specialist Credential (CESC) Program from Cal State Fullerton is a fully online program that helps you meet required California credentialing standards.

But this program isn’t just designed to help you meet state standards; it’s also an effective way for dedicated educators like you to advance their career.

Ideal for:

  • Anyone with a Preliminary Education Specialist Credential or a Level I Education Specialist Credential.
  • Anyone who wants to advance in their teaching career.

Your Credential, Your Way

There are two ways to obtain your Clear Education Specialist Credential at California State University, Fullerton:

Pathway #1: If you are not seeking a master’s degree, take your courses through Extension and International Programs at CSUF. There’s no application process — simply register for one of the three Program Specific Required Courses and all three of the Required Core Courses. (Four courses total.)

If you hold a Level I Credential, you will need to take SPED 496 in addition to your Program Specific Required Course and Required Core Courses. (Five courses total.)

Pathway #2: If you are seeking a master’s degree, complete your Clear Credential through the College of Special Education.

Required Core Courses

  • SPED 502
  • SPED 551
  • SPED 533
    • You must take SPED 533 in your final semester.
    • You must hold a full-time position as an education specialist to take SPED 533.
    • You must complete your one Program Specific Required Course (see above) to take SPED 533.

Required Course (only for candidates who hold a Level I Credential)

Program Stats:

  • 4-5 courses.
  • 100% online.

Non-California Residents
