Course Number: SECS 7255 (1.20 CEUs/12 Hours)
This introductory course provides an overview of the important role Data Science plays in business and in our daily lives. Examples illustrating the many different types of organizations that are using data to compete in today's data-driven world will be presented and discussed. The course will demonstrate how various functional areas within an organization are leveraging data to provide the most value to an organization. The various tools and leadership for successful implementation of a data science program will be presented, and some of the many challenges, such as privacy and security, that accompany data science initiatives will be covered. By the end of the course, students will develop a high-level career plan outlining the opportunities they see for themselves and how they plan to use the skills they'll be developing in this program to grow their career.
