Course Number: SECS 7265 (1.25 CEUs/12.5 Hours)
Advanced manufacturing processes refer to operations that create advanced products and use innovative techniques in their manufacturing. It is not limited to just the employment of robots and high-tech processes, but also includes the manufacturing of innovative products and the use of creative principles. This course will discuss the fundamental principles behind the emerging methodologies for the novel manufacture of products from metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites. Advanced manufacturing processes such as additive manufacturing processes, advanced casting processes, and non-traditional machining processes will be discussed with an emphasis on a quantitative and qualitative study of specific processes. Participants will be working on a project on an advanced manufacturing process while using the acquired knowledge throughout the program.
