Course Information

This class begins with a basic understanding of the history and development of Crime Analysis through the lens of law enforcement and crime control models. Students will be exposed to various software and gain a conceptual understanding of their role and responsibility in the analytical profession. Students will learn about data and databases, and they will learn how to query across tables and generate valuable reports for their analysis. Students will learn the basics of design and how to create the kind of work products that consumers rely on. As part of this learning, students will generate a wanted flyer and learn how to fix, clear up and reveal information hidden in the pixels. This class teaches students about modern-day GIS / Crime Mapping techniques and algorithms that help identify crime trends and series.
