This 12-unit, graduate-level, online certificate program provides a cutting-edge curriculum that meets the emerging needs for community college faculty in the area of postsecondary reading. The certificate satisfies the California mandate under AB 1725 requiring certification in adult reading instruction for community college teachers of English.

Before registering for classes, you must be accepted into the program. You can apply by submitting our online application form. The form takes about 15-30 minutes to complete, and it will give you the opportunity to share your educational background and relevant work experience. You will also be asked about your technology knowledge and skills, your abilities to be an online learner, and your professional goals related to completion of the certificate.
To qualify for the program, you must have completed a BS or BA from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.5 in the last 60 semester units attempted for that degree.
Applications for the Fall 2017 term must be received before 4 p.m. (PST) on Monday, August 7, 2017.

The audience would be anyone who is interested in working in the postsecondary reading and learning environment - classroom setting, learning assistance program, tutorial services, advisement offices, student services administration, business/industry and workplace settings, etc. They might also be participating in this certificate program to improve chances of advancement in their current professional setting or to seek another professional focus.
Prerequisite: notification of official admission into the Postsecondary Reading and Learning Certificate Program or appropriate classified graduate standing.
