Health Care Analytics

Our Certificate in Heath Care Analytics is designed to respond to the demand for trained analytics professionals in the health care industry.

In the United States, health care organizations are increasingly using analytics as the mechanism to unlock complex data, create actionable insights, increase business efficiency and improve clinical outcomes. Yet there is a growing shortage of qualified health care analytics professionals. A report from McKinsey Global Institute estimates that by 2018 the United States will have a shortage of 1.5 million managers and analysts capable of extracting insights from the data deluge.

This certificate program aims to reduce that shortage.

Students earning the Certificate in Health Care Analytics will learn to make data-driven decisions and deliver analytical expertise. Graduates will have the skills to promote effectiveness, efficiency and quality in health care organizations, health care IT companies and consulting firms.

The credits (9 units) from the certificate can be applied (if accepted) into the study plan for the Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) or Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) from CSUF’s Mihaylo College of Business and Economics. A grade of B or better is necessary for all three certificate courses. Earning the certificate not does guarantee admission to either of these programs, and all applicants must meet CSUF's admission requirements to be admitted.

The Certificate in Health Care Analytics consists of 3 required courses totaling 9 semester units. Courses will consist of lecture, classroom discussion, lab exercises, case studies and use cases that specifically pertain to the health care industry.
