Game-Based Learning Microcredential Program helps you gain a solid and practical understanding of game-based learning through a series of three online microcourses in the Games for Teaching and Workplace Learning Microcredential. These microcredential courses are great for not only K-12 teachers and higher education faculty, but also corporate trainers and learning & development professionals. Each course features an engaging, active learning experience that provides opportunities to learn from and connect with other like-minded education and training professionals. Most importantly, this microcredential program will help you develop a solid knowledge base about identifying, analyzing, and designing games for teaching and workplace learning.

Randall Fujimoto
Lead Instructor
Randall Fujimoto brings over 10 years of experience in game-based learning, as well as a background in the video game industry. Currently, he is a designer for GameTrain Learning, Inc., a nonprofit educational organization that promotes game-based learning in education.
Fujimoto has developed the Game-Based Learning microcredential program at Cal State Fullerton based on his previous game-based learning courses. He designed it to cover all topics in an engaging, online format and built each course from the ground up to specifically focus on the benefits of online education, including incorporating social learning practices and utilizing new online learning tools.
Fujimoto’s personal mission is to make education more effective and engaging through the use of game-based learning activities. With this microcredential program, he wants participants to develop a “gameful mindset,” which describes the unique ways in which today's gamer generation of students think and learn.
Showcase your professional accomplishments with digital badges from CSUF University Extension! A digital badge is a visual representation of skills and knowledge you have gained by completing a microcredential program or course. Display these highly coveted credentials on your resume, online portfolio, website, LinkedIn and other social media pages.
After completing the Level Up! Game-Based Learning microcredential program and/or microcourse, you will receive an email with instructions on how to receive your digital badge through the Badgr platform. From there, you can create an account where you will be able to display all the badges you've earned digitally. Though the digital badge does not count as academic credit, these highly coveted digital badges can be placed on your résumé and on LinkedIn or other social media platforms.
For courses that are delivered virtually, participants will need access to a computer and a reliable internet connection. A webcam and/or headset may also be recommended to participate in the class. Attendance to the live lecture is expected as if you were meeting face-to-face. Please refer to our Technical Recommendations for more information.
