Course Number: SECS 7262 (1.25 CEUs/12.5 Hours)
This course introduces the fundamental concepts of designing production systems and how they are automated and computerized. Topics covered include automation and control technologies for manufacturing operations, computer-numerical-control (CNC), PLC programming, material handling, identification technologies, and smart manufacturing. The course also offers an overview of new and emerging manufacturing technologies such as data-driven manufacturing, real-time monitoring and sensing, cloud manufacturing, cyber-physical systems (CPS), Industry 4.0, 5G, artificial intelligence (A.I.), smart machines and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Each participant will be working on completing a virtual manufacturing-based project demonstrating real-world industrial applications, the use of big data, automation, and computer-integrated manufacturing principles.
Please note: Students are welcome to register for these courses through the first Thursday following the start date of each course.
