Course Number: SECS 7263 (1.25 CEUs/12.5 Hours)
Additive Manufacturing (AM), also referred to as 3D Printing, has been playing a pivotal role in recent manufacturing advancements. In this course, participants will obtain: (a) a fundamental understanding of various AM processes and the underlying principles, (b) an insight into the impacts of AM processes on product development, innovation, and mass customization (c) the ability to correlate various engineering materials with the possible AM technologies and their capabilities, (d) an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in designing, engineering, and fabricating complex multi-functional products through AM technologies (e) an introduction to modeling, simulation of AM processes, (f) a comprehensive knowledge of current challenges, latest trends and opportunities in AM. Each participant in the class will work on a course project related to additive manufacturing processes and technologies.
Please note: Students are welcome to register for these courses through the first Thursday following the start date of each course.
