Third Party (External) Funding

Some students receive financial support from an external organization or sponsor to help cover tuition and fees.

CSUF, University Extension may establish a third-party billing agreement with an external agency or company. Under this arrangement, University Extension bills the sponsor directly for all or part of a student’s tuition and fees. Sponsors typically require an official itemized invoice from University Extension before issuing payment.

Both the student and the sponsoring organization must meet certain requirements before University Extension can establish a third-party billing agreement.

Students who are sponsored by a third party should contact extensionfinance@fullerton.edu to set up a sponsorship account. Sponsorship documentation must be submitted at least two weeks prior to registration. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that University Extension has valid sponsorship documentation on file.

Sponsorship Letter Requirements

The sponsorship letter must include the following information:

  • Sponsor’s complete name and address
  • Billing address (if different from the sponsor’s address)
  • Contact information for the sponsor (name, email address, and phone number)
  • Name and CWID of the student(s) being sponsored
  • Approved academic term and funding amount
  • Approved course or program title
  • Any sponsorship restrictions or limitations

Payment Terms

  • Payment from the sponsoring organization is due within 30 days of the invoice date.
  • Students are financially responsible for any charges not covered by the sponsor.
