Clear your teaching credential online with CSUF

Looking for a way to clear your teaching credential online?

Now you can with the Teacher Induction Program from Cal State Fullerton.

This online program lets you clear your teaching credential in 1–2 years and meets California’s latest requirements for teacher credentialing.

CSUF: The Latest Credentialing Requirements

This program meets the updated California Commission on Teacher Credentialing requirements for earning a Clear Multiple Subject or Single Subject Credential through the General Education Teacher Induction program.

  • 100% online.

Program Costs

The cost of the Teacher Induction Program courses will be $650* per unit.

The Traditional 2-year program consists of 9.0 units total and will cost $5,850*. This cost is divided over four semesters.

The Early Completion Option (ECO) 1-year program consists of 5.0 units total and costs $3,250*. This cost is divided over 3 semesters.

Program Schedule

The Traditional program consists of four courses (a total of nine (9) course units) and is four semesters/two years long:

Year 1 Fall EDEL/EDSC 502E: New Teacher Induction, Semester 1 (3 units)
Spring EDEL/EDSC 502F: New Teacher Induction, Semester 2 (2 units)
Year 2 Fall EDEL/EDSC 502G: New Teacher Induction, Semester 3 (2 units)
Spring EDEL/EDSC 502H: New Teacher Induction, Semester 4 (2 units)

The Early Completion Option (ECO) program consists of three courses (a total of five (5) course units) and is three semesters/one year long:

Year 1 Summer EDEL/EDSC 502A: New Teacher Induction Bootcamp (1 unit)
Fall EDEL/EDSC 502G: New Teacher Induction, Semester 3 (2 units)
Spring EDEL/EDSC 502H: New Teacher Induction, Semester 4 (2 units)

Those pursuing a multiple subject credential enroll in EDEL (Elementary Education) courses; those pursuing a single subject credential enroll in EDSC (Secondary Education) courses.


To be eligible for the Teacher Induction Program, you must hold a valid California Multiple or Single Subject Preliminary Credential and have a teaching contract for the first year of the program that meets requirements below. If you were initially prepared outside of California, please read CSUF's College of Education Credential Programs Policy Three. In addition, during the program, you must:

  • Remain employed by a CA school district, charter school, or private school, teaching at least two courses in the subject area/grade level indicated by your preliminary credential.
  • Remain employed as the teacher of record for no less than 10 students in assigned classrooms; plan, deliver and assess standard based instruction, including the California Common Core State Standards; issue student grades; and be in direct communication with parents.
  • Have access to a diverse population of students, including English Language Learners, students with special needs and GATE students.
  • Have face-to-face access to a mentor assigned by school district/site.

In addition to the eligibility requirements listed above, Early Completion Option (ECO) induction program candidates must:

  • Have completed a minimum of two years full-time consecutive teaching experience WITH their credential, working as the teacher of record in the area of their earned credential, at the same school and district, and will remain employed at that school throughout their participation in the TIP program.
  • Confirm that their school administrator recommends the candidate for the Early Completion Option (ECO) via the Administrator Recommendation form.
  • Demonstrate Exceptional Teaching Performance by way of a current (the same year application is submitted) administrator evaluation of teaching practice/performance.
  • Must demonstrate a rating of “exemplary” on minimum of 85% of all categories on our Teacher Evaluation Form, and no rating lower than “acceptable”.
  • In addition, the evaluation should include descriptions of classroom practice evidence for rating the candidate on each of the Continuum of Teaching Practice (CSTP) categories. The candidate must demonstrate a minimum rating of Level 3 in each CSTP category.
