Refund Policies
Please note: Effective December 28, 2020, a non-refundable 2.65% service charge will be charged to all credit/debit card transactions. This charge is assessed by Cashnet Inc. Service charges are included in your transaction and are paid directly to Cashnet Inc. Service charges are non-refundable. Please refer to Terms and Conditions.

Refunds are based on the date when the official drop is received by Extension and International Programs office. If you need to drop a class, you may do so by phone at 657-278-2611 or by email to EIPConnect@fullerton.edu. Please include your full name, CWID, term, and course you would like to drop. Dropping via the CSUF student portal is not available for extension classes.
Refunds will be issued back to the original form of payment. If you paid with a check or electronic ACH, allow up to 6 weeks for refunds via check to mailing address on file. Checks cannot be picked up in person. If you paid with a credit card, allow 7-10 business days for your refund to be credited back to your credit card. If you do not receive your refund by that time, please email EIPConnect@fullerton.edu or call 657-278-2611.
In-Person Classes
- If you drop at least one business day prior to the class start date, a full refund less $10 per class will be issued.
- If you drop on or after the class start date:
- Classes with four or less class meetings - There is no refund.
- Classes with five or more class meetings - If less than 25% of the class time has elapsed, a 65% refund will be issued. After 25% of the class time has elapsed, there will be no refund. (For example, there would be no refund for drops after three meetings of a twelve-meeting class because 25% of the class meetings has elapsed.)
Online & Hybrid Classes
- If you drop at least one business day prior to the class start date, a full refund less $10 per class will be issued.
- If you drop on or after the class start date, if less than 25% of the class time has elapsed, a 65% refund will be issued. After 25% of the class time has elapsed, there will be no refund.

Academic & Tech Experience
- If you drop at least one business day prior to the class start date, a full refund less $10 per class will be issued.
- If you drop on or after the class start date, if less than 25% of the class time has elapsed, a 65% refund will be issued. After 25% of the class time has elapsed, there will be no refund.
- If you drop either Let’s Explore STEM or Engineering Explorers course after the kit has been mailed out (one week prior to the start of class), you will be refunded for only the course fee based on the policy above. The price of the kit will not be refunded and you will be able to keep the kit.
Open University Classes
Fall and Spring
- If your drop request is received before the first day of the semester, you will receive a full refund minus $10 per course.
- If your drop request is received on after the start of the semester, but within the early enrollment/drop period, you will receive a refund of 65%. No approvals are required and there will be no record of enrollment.
- If your drop request is received during the late withdrawal period ("W" grade) through the designated late enrollment date, you will receive a refund of 65%.
- During the late withdrawal period, drops are only allowed for serious and compelling reasons. An approved Withdrawal Petition completed at Late Withdrawal Process is required and no refunds are given.
Winter and Summer
- If your drop request is received during the early enrollment/drop period, you will receive a full refund minus $10 per course.
- If your drop request is received on or after the start of the specific session, but within the early enrollment/drop period, you will receive a refund of 65%. No approvals are required and there will be no record of enrollment.
- Drops after the late enrollment/drop period for each session are only allowed for serious and compelling reasons. An approved Withdrawal Petition at Late Withdrawal Process is required and no refunds are given.

Fall and Spring
8 Weeks and Cal State Online Classes:
- If you drop at least one day prior to the session start date, a full refund less $10 per class will be issued.
- If you drop on or after the session start date, if less than 25% of the class time has elapsed, a 65% refund will be issued. After 25% of the class time has elapsed, there will be no refund.
15 and 16 Weeks Classes:
- If you drop at least one day prior to the session start date, a full refund less $10 per class will be issued.
- If you drop on or after the session start date, a 65% refund will be issued up to the census date.
- If you drop after the census date, there will be no refund.
Summer
5 Weeks, 8 Weeks, 10 Weeks, and Cal State Online Classes:
- If you drop at least one day prior to the session start date, a full refund less $10 per class will be issued.
- If you drop on or after the session start date, if less than 25% of the class time has elapsed, a 65% refund will be issued. After 25% of the class time has elapsed, there will be no refund.
University Semester Abroad (USA) and International Research & Study Program
- If a student withdraws before the program start date, a full refund less a $255 administrative fee will be issued.
- If a student withdraws on the first day or within 25% of the program, 65% of the tuition will be refunded. Fees are non-refundable.
- If a student withdraws after 25% of the program has elapsed, no refund will be issued.

Requests for refunds are processed through the Extension and International Programs office. Refunds will be issued back to the original form of payment. Allow up to six weeks for refunds via check to mailing address on file. If you paid with a credit card, allow 7-10 business days for your refund to be credited back to your credit card. Students who are dismissed from the program because of insufficient attendance or serious misconduct are not eligible to receive a refund.
