Why did you choose CSUF for your Teacher Induction Program?

I chose CSUF for my Teacher Induction program because it allowed me to teach full time and clear my credential. I also heard from friends that CSUF has very supportive faculty in the Education department.

What lesson/course was most memorable for you?

I remember filming my introduction to my portfolio, and being so proud of what I was able to accomplish. The ability to summarize all of my work the past four semesters and the amount of growth achieved was eye opening.

Is there anything you ’d like to share about your experience in the Teacher Induction Program?

I loved how practical this program was. I learned a lot of strategies and gained several resources that are currently helping me teach during distance learning. My professors were so supportive and gave feedback that helped me become a better teacher. Our lessons and assignments were the right amount of difficulty and really stretched me out of my comfort zone as a new teacher. I was more willing to try new things in my classroom and reaped tremendous rewards.

Did the Teacher Induction Program improve your career? If so, how?

With the extra units I received, I was able to move to the next salary class and get a percentage salary increase. With the tools I learned from this class I also became part of the tech support during distance learning and have led my own professional development.

I feel very empowered by my experience with CSUF. I now know that I am capable of working full time and furthering my academic career simultaneously and currently applying for Ed.D programs (including CSUF’s!).
