Why did you choose CSUF for your Master's in Software Engineering?
The AMSE program at CSUF checked off many boxes for me, most notably for its program duration, cost, course work, and caliber of the faculty.
What were you doing before the Accelerated Master's in Software Engineering program?
I was a Software Engineer of 5 years at a company called Parasoft.
What were you hoping to get out of this program?
The two most important things for me were to advance my career deepen my understanding of software engineering. Coming from a non-Computer Science bachelor’s degree (Electrical Engineering), I felt that to progress in my career, a related advanced degree would help.
Did the AMSE program improve your career?
Post graduation, I landed a job at IBM with a 50% increase in salary. I was promoted one year later.
What advice do you have for students entering the Accelerated Master's in Software Engineering program?
I firmly believe the program does a great job in confirming and solidifying one’s current understanding of software engineering. The coursework is highly relevant and much of its teachings can be applied immediately to one’s current work and responsibilities – it is well worth the investment.
