In the fall and spring semesters, classes meet from 7:00 p.m. to 8:50 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. In summer terms, which run from the beginning of June through mid-August, classes tend to meet from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The program is three years long, and MSW Flex students are required to take summer terms between years 1 and 2.

No. This program is a part-time program only. It is called a “cohort” program, meaning that all students go through the program together, taking up to three classes each semester. Our experience with this program and the traditional program has taught us that two classes per week are about the most a working student can successfully handle.

No. MSW Flex students can only take classes offered as part of this program.

In the midpoint of the program, all MSW Flex students are required to complete two nine-month-long field learning experiences—tailored to their area of social work practice interest—consisting of 16 hours per week at a community-based social work agency.

Most classes range from 30-35 students. In the second year, the cohort is split, depending on the two concentrations: child welfare or community mental health. MSW Flex students may select only one concentration to pursue.

The program accepts applications for a new cohort every fall semester only. Please visit our application process webpage: https://extension.fullerton.edu/masters/msw/apply.aspx.

Any questions regarding the MSW program application process can be addressed by emailing applymsw@fullerton.edu  or by calling 657-278-8452.

In order to determine financial aid eligibility, students must first complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the academic year of attendance: https://www.fullerton.edu/financialaid/special-groups/year-round.html. If eligible, financial aid award is on based units taken and cost of attendance.
