Financial Aid Eligibility
Students interested in financial aid are required to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To be eligible, you must:
- Be enrolled in at least 6 units each term
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen (such as a permanent resident)
Please note that students in this program are not eligible for State University Grants (SUGs).
The financial aid options for our online programs include:
- Stafford Loans – Subsidized and unsubsidized long-term, low-interest loans through the federal government.
- Pell Grants – Federal grant for students who demonstrate need. It is a federally funded program for U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens.
- Cal Grants – Administered by the California Student Aid Commission, Cal Grant A or B programs are available to eligible students who submit the Free Application Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and meet all other requirements by the March 2 deadline. More information can be found on the California Student Aid Commission website.
Enrollment & Award Amounts
Financial aid awards are calculated based on full-time enrollment (12 units). Since this program follows a part-time structure (6 units per term), your financial aid will be adjusted accordingly.
For example, if your award is listed as $5,000 per semester for full-time enrollment, you would typically receive half that amount—$2,500 per semester—when enrolled in 6 units as a part-time student.
For complete details and personalized assistance, visit the CSUF Financial Aid Office website or contact their office directly. We encourage you to watch the Financial Aid Information Session video first, as it provides a helpful overview of the financial aid options and eligibility specific to our online program before reaching out to the Financial Aid Office.
Military Benefits
If you are active military or a veteran, your education benefits can be used for yourself or dependents. To learn more, please visit the University’s Veterans Certification page.
Note: This program is not eligible for the Cal Vet fee waiver program.
