“My degree in Professional Business helped open a lot of doors for me and helped me gain understanding of different types of management.”
Mohammad talks about his experience completing his degree in the BABA program, and advice for incoming students.
Why did you choose the BABA Program at Cal State Fullerton?
I chose the BABA program because it allowed me to earn a degree even with my busy full time job schedule.
What was it like to be in a fully online program?
It definitely took some getting used to. However, over time I was able to take on more courses and speed up my progress for completing the program. I had full support from the advisors team when making these changes.
What did the cohort model — where you take all your classes with the same group of peers — bring to your experience?
When it came to getting to know my peers and working together with them, I did not feel any different than I would have if I took the same classes on campus. We were able to stay in touch through emails as well as group chats on WhatsApp for real time updates and conversations.
Did your relationships with your classmates help you after you graduated from the program?
After graduating, I stayed friends with most of my peers. I’ve also grown my professional network by connecting with everyone on LinkedIn.
Were there any other aspects of the program that were particularly helpful for your career development?
Besides the learning material in the courses, the interaction with my peers during our team projects helped me gain more confidence. My peers were all from different professional backgrounds and we were able to learn a little bit about different careers from each other. I picked my current field after getting inspired by one of my peers.
What advice do you have for students entering the program?
If you need any kind of help, there are great staff members available to help. Don’t be afraid to reach out. Also, this program offers a variety of different subjects that you can pick your future career path from. Keep an open mind until the end of the program and you will find what you want to do.
What are you doing now?
I am an operations manager at an aerospace/defense company. My degree in Professional Business helped open a lot of doors for me and helped me gain an understanding of different types of management.
