Welcome

The Study Abroad & Global Engagement Office is excited to host the virtual Global Engagement Expo. This three-day expo will spotlight global opportunities which include studying abroad, studying away within the United States, virtual programs, global internships, post-graduate opportunities, internationally-focused activities at CSUF, and more!

Each day we will offer live (or pre-recorded) zoom sessions highlighting international institutional partners, global programs, and activities with opportunities to ask questions to program representatives, student ambassadors, CSUF study abroad advisors, and staff. This expo will allow students to practice being a Global Titan by cultivating curiosity, appreciation and respect for all cultures and backgrounds through participation in enriching activities and experiences, engagement with diverse individuals and groups, and exposure to different ideas and opportunities to "thrive in a global environment".

Institut Américain Universitaire (IAU), is an American institution of higher learning located in southern France that offers study abroad opportunities in various fields. Its main campus is in Aix-en-Provence, France, and offers satellite programs throughout Spain, Morocco, and the United Kingdom.

They are the Barcelona specialists, and connect students to people and places. They value cultural immersion and believe that interacting with locals is just as important as seeing the sites. They have become a supportive member of the community in Barcelona and pride themselves on working with locals – all the way from their cooking classes to Barcelona’s finest medical staff.

Scholarship: Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, thereby gaining skills critical to our national security and economic competitiveness.

CSU International Programs (CSU IP) Office

Since its inception in 1963, the CSU International Programs, a systemwide department operating from within the CSU Chancellor’s Office in Long Beach, California, has contributed to this effort by providing qualified students an affordable opportunity to continue their studies abroad for a full academic year (or semester for selective programs). International Programs participants earn resident academic credit at their CSU campuses while they pursue full-time, yearlong study at a host university or special study center abroad.

You will be able to ask questions and learn everything you need to start your journey.

CSUF Department: College of Humanities & Social Sciences-Virtual Mexico Summer 2021

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences’ departments and programs offer students the breadth of a traditional liberal arts education in the humanities and social sciences while preparing professional study in fields such as law, education, public administration, clinical psychology, and business. Of course important learning takes place outside of the formal structure of classes as well. H&SS provides many opportunities for students to be involved in faculty research projects, to participate in professional internships, and to be active members of student clubs. Students can study in Washington, D.C. or in one of several overseas programs that take place during the regular academic year, summer, and winter session.

Post-Graduate Opportunity: The English Program in Korea (EPIK)

EPIK was established in 1995 and is affiliated with the Korean Ministry of Education. Since its inception, EPIK has had the goals of improving the English-speaking abilities of Korean students and teachers, developing cultural exchange between Korea and abroad, and of introducing new teaching methods into the Korean education system.

USAC is a non-profit, university-based organization with 53 programs in 28 countries. USAC offers summer, winter, semester, and yearlong program options. They pride themselves on providing well-rounded, academically sound and credible programs in non-traditional locations or in unique parts of more traditional places.

The Peace Corps is a volunteer and service opportunity run by the United States Government for motivated changemakers to immerse themselves in a community abroad, working side by side with local leaders to tackle the most pressing challenges of our generation.

AIFS is recognized as a leading provider of study abroad programs. Since 1964, over 1.5 million students have traveled abroad with AIFS. They offer a wide range of unique programs in Asia, Australia, Europe, South Africa and the Americas. Most AIFS campuses offer courses in English or in foreign languages from beginner to advanced levels, so you don’t even have to know a foreign language to study abroad.

CSUF Campus Student Club: Japanese Anime Club-Manga/Anime Illustration

Founded in 2004, Japanese Anime Club is committed to bringing people together, making new friends, sharing our hobbies and interests in a safe and friendly environment. We love to watch anime, play games, and hang out together! During our meetings, we provide workshops where we teach a variety of excellent skills including “How-to” guides to video games, Illustration and character design, Cosplay and so much more! Each year we hold events such as Maid Cafe, Club outings, and Video and Card game tournaments. Additionally, we have regular attendance at Anime conventions, including Anime Expo, Anime Los Angeles, and many more!

Foundation for International Education (FIE) is a London-based non-profit educational organization, providing customized partnership programs and individual student enrollment programs in London, Dublin, and Amman for undergraduate students. Students can study a variety of academic subjects while with FIE London or Dublin, including Art, Business, Communications, History, Literature, Politics, and Theater. We also offer a summer Study program exclusively for Peace and Conflict Resolution in Amman, Jordan.

Post-Graduate Opportunity: North American Language & Culture Assistants Program (NALCAP) in Spain

Fancy living in Spain? The North American Language and Culture Assistants Program (NALCAP), sponsored by the Ministry of Education of Spain, offers college students and graduates who are native-like speakers of English the opportunity to spend a school year in Spain as assistant teachers, sharing your language and culture at K-12 schools. Placements are offered all across Spain running from October to May. Over 35,000 Americans and Canadians have participated in the program and lived this international opportunity. It'll be the experience of a lifetime.

CSUF Reciprocal Exchange Mexico: Tecnológico de Monterrey

Tecnológico de Monterrey was founded in 1943 by a group of successful Mexican entrepreneurs led by Eugenio Garza Sada. The International Programs Department offers special services for exchange students upon their arrival on Campus. These services include an Orientation Program before the term starts, Immigration Services, Housing, Academic Counseling, Health Insurance, Field Trips, and Special Events. Every semester about 40% of the classes are offered in English.

  • Post-Graduate Opportunity: Programming available after graduating from CSUF.
  • Post-Study Abroad or Global Engagement Opportunity: Programming available to students following a study abroad or global engagement (e.g. internship or service-learning) program.
  • CSUF Reciprocal Exchange: Semester or yearlong exchanges with CSUF partner universities abroad. Participants pay the same tuition and fees they would at CSUF. Credits earned can be approved as major, minor, GE or elective courses.
  • Non-CSUF Programs: Provider or direct enroll programs that provide flexibility to study just about anywhere and anytime.
  • CSU International Programs (CSUIP): Semester- and yearlong exchanges offered by the California State University system. Participants pay CSU tuition and program fees and earn resident academic credit while studying at an affiliated host university or study center abroad.
  • CSUF Department: One week to full semester programs created and managed directly by CSUF colleges, departments and faculty. Participants pay CSUF tuition and fees as well as low program costs, and generally enroll in CSUF courses for added ease of credit toward their degree.

For several years, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences has been offering CSUF students across all majors the opportunity to study abroad in places like Italy, Germany, Spain, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia and South Africa, as well as intern in exciting metropolitan cities like Washington D.C. and London. HSS study abroad and away programs allow students to stay on track for graduation by offering upper division general education courses while providing a global experiential learning experience.

You can apply most financial aid to studying abroad if California State University, Fullerton and the host institution approve your academic plans. Additionally, there are numerous scholarship opportunities to help make international travel a part of your CSUF experience. The Global Titans Ambassador program is a voluntary program that provides study abroad alumni the opportunity to share their enthusiasm and passion for study abroad and global engagement with the CSUF community while engaging in activities that help foster professional development.

CSUF Diversity Initiatives & Resource Centers (DIRC) : Intercultural Communications Workshop
This workshop examines nine intercultural values (individualism vs. collectivism, power, gender, time orientation etc.) and consider how these values impact conflict and interpersonal communication. Students will gain critical consciousness and communication skills applicable to interpersonal communications and workplace communication.

AIFS is recognized as a leading provider of study abroad programs. Since 1964, over 1.5 million students have traveled abroad with AIFS. They offer a wide range of unique programs in Asia, Australia, Europe, South Africa and the Americas. Most AIFS campuses offer courses in English or in foreign languages from beginner to advanced levels, so you don’t even have to know a foreign language to study abroad.

CSUF Campus Student Club: Chinese Studies Society- CHIN 101 (intro) Workshop
Chinese Studies Society (CSS) is a non-profit and non-partisan cultural student organization at California State University, Fullerton for students who have interests in learning the Chinese Language (Mandarin) and culture. CSS's purpose is to gather students from our diverse campus who are keen on learning more on Chinese Culture and inter-cultural exchange. They provide opportunities for participants to learn more about Mandarin and Chinese Culture through our events and workshops.

CSUF Campus Student Club-French Club: French Language & Culture Hour
The French Club is a community of students who are interested in learning about the French culture. They explore the culture through language, art, music, film and food. During meetings they practice the language, discuss other cultural topics, and create friendships between members. You also don't need to know the French language to join our club.

Student Panel
Are you considering a global experience and want to speak with other students who have done so already? The panel of students are recent study abroad participants from various programs. They will be sharing their program experience and conducting a Q&A session where prospective students can ask questions about their global education experience.

NON-CSUF Provider: Foundation for International Education (FIE)
FIE is a London-based non-profit educational organization, providing customized partnership programs and individual student enrollment programs in London, Dublin, and Amman for undergraduate students. Students can study a variety of academic subjects while with FIE London or Dublin, including Art, Business, Communications, History, Literature, Politics, and Theater. We also offer a summer Study program exclusively for Peace and Conflict Resolution in Amman, Jordan.
